Everybody: quit buying store bought eggnog! This difference is insane and this is actually so easy to make. Try it once and you will change your mind forever. This does contain raw eggs but that kinda makes us feel like we are getting lots of protein a la Rocky-style.


Homemade Eggnog

Yield: approximately 6 cups



  • 6 large eggs, yolk and whites separated
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  •  3 cups whole milk
  •  1 ½ cups heavy cream
  •   ½ cup bourbon or rum
  •   1 teaspoon nutmeg
  •   1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a large bowl whisk together egg yolks and sugar until light yellow in colour and a creamy consistency. Slowly add in milk, heavy cream, bourbon, nutmeg and vanilla, whisking until well combined. In a separate bowl whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the eggnog mixture and serve. Will keep refrigerated for up to 3 days. If you are not using liquor this will only keep refrigerated for one day.
