Lightened Up Tartar Sauce

Nothing beats tartar sauce with breaded fish fillets, but if you’re anything like me and dump about 1/4 cup on a small piece of fish, it’s worth cutting some of the extra calories. For this recipe, instead of using full fat mayonnaise I used non-fat plain Greek yogurt and low fat sour cream.

Total time: 10 minutes
Yield: ~2 cups

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup non-fat plain Greek yogurt

  • ½ cup light sour cream

  • ½ cup finely chopped dill pickles

  • ¼ cup capers, drained

  • 2 tbsp. minced red onion

  • 2 tbsp. fresh dill, chopped

  • 2 tsp. fresh lemon juice

  • ½ tsp. lemon zest

  • ½ white sugar

  • Salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

In a small bowl, combine all ingredients. If you let it refrigerate for around 1 hour before serving, the flavours will meld better but this step is not necessary. Store, covered, in the fridge. This will last up until your yogurt + sour cream expiry date.
