Untamed Kootenays Fernie Food Weekend

I got to spend this past weekend in beautiful Fernie, BC at Island Lake Lodge for their second annual Untamed Kootenay's culinary event. This event showcases the local fare of the Kootenay region, and is hosted by the very talented Executive Chef, Keith Farkas.

Night one is a four course dinner, with wine pairings (of course) courtesy of BC Wine Studio.

The next day we got taken on a foraging adventure in the woods, where we picked horsetail, fiddleheads, stinging nettle, dandelion greens, pine tips and buttercups to be used for dinner and also for me to take home!

Night two is a five course meal with more fantastic wine pairings. Two amazing guest chefs came up from Calgary, Bridgette Bar's JP Pedhirney, and Model Milk's Blair Clemis. The surroundings were stunning and every meal was an absolute treat.

I got to spend my down time at the spa and enjoying the beautiful views. I am still feeling spoiled! This is the perfect relaxing weekend to spend with a loved one, and if you are a foodie like myself I highly recommend booking your spot for next year.

I will be writing a recipe in the coming week using some of the goodies I foraged in the woods, so stay tuned!
